Virgin & Recycled Bonding Fiber
BiCo Low Melt Fiber
Virgin and recycled BiCo options for thermal bonding. This bicomponent binder fiber is blended with other fibers to create bond points under heat and give the web cohesion without relying on needling as the primary bonding step.
How It Works
The fiber that bonds the blend.
BiCo low melt is selected for its bonding function. Its outer sheath softens at a lower temperature than the core. During the heating stage, contact points between fibers can bond; the core helps preserve the fiber structure through the process.
The result depends on the blend, binder-fiber percentage, web weight, oven or calendar settings, residence time and cooling conditions. We select the grade around the actual production line and the feel, loft and strength required in the finished material.
From Blend to Bond
Designed around your bonding process.
Useful specifications are defined by how the fiber runs in your line and performs in the finished web.
Controlled mixing
Binder fiber is distributed through the carrier fibers to support even bonding. Opening and carding behavior are checked against your line.
Bond activation
Heating allows the low melt component to form contact points. The operating window is established through trials for the specific grade and equipment.
Targeted structure
Blend ratio and process settings are adjusted to balance cohesion, thickness, flexibility, loft and the required final strength.
Two Supply Routes
Virgin or recycled. Built for your target.
We compare suitable grades by bonding performance, consistency, documentation and total delivered cost for your application.
Applications
For materials made by thermal bonding.
Application suitability is confirmed on the customer's actual web, line and finished-product requirements.
Thermobonded Wadding & Batting
Binder fiber can help hold a polyester blend together in bedding, furniture and cushioning constructions where controlled loft and cohesion are required.
Automotive Interior Nonwovens
Possible use in thermally bonded layers for selected interior components. Odour, VOC, flammability and other OEM requirements must be qualified on the relevant material or component.
Acoustic & Insulation Layers
Used as a bonding component in engineered fiber webs where thickness, structure and handling strength are specified.
Composite & Technical Webs
Supports fiber-to-fiber bonding in a designed blend. Selection follows the target weight, heat process, stiffness and end use.
BiCo low melt is specified as a binder within a blend. The performance of a finished wadding or nonwoven is established through the customer's production trial and application tests.
Indicative Grade
A starting point for the specification.
One inquiry example is shown below. Final grade, source, color and availability are confirmed before an offer.
*The stated temperature identifies an indicative low melt component grade; it is not a guaranteed oven setting or the melting point of the whole fiber. Actual bonding conditions vary with blend, equipment, exposure time and the target material. No denier, color, recycled-content or certification combination is implied to be available as standard.
Qualification & Lot Control
Check the fiber. Prove the bond in production.
The agreed test and reporting plan follows the grade, your processing conditions and the product's end use.
Basic properties
Confirm linear density, cut length, appearance, finish, crimp and relevant mechanical properties against the approved specification.
Bonding behavior
Evaluate the applicable low melt component and assess web bonding under a defined temperature, dwell time and process method.
Application tests
Measure the properties required for the finished web, such as thickness, tensile performance or component-specific automotive tests.
Defined lots
Agree in advance which measurements and documents accompany each lot; confirm any certification against the exact grade and supply chain.
